SFA exposed again as Rangers escape Scottish Cup red card exactly one week after Celtic VAR mess

Brother Walfrid Statue, Celtic Park

The SFA have been exposed to criticism after Steven McLean and VAR failed to spot a Rangers high boot against Hibernian exactly one week after Celtic were wrongly punished for the same thing.

Hyunjun Yang was ordered off in Celtic’s 2-0 defeat to Hearts after John Beaton instructed Don Robertson to have a look at the challenge on the VAR screen.

The South Korean was shown a red and that triggered a week of VAR controversy for Celtic and Brendan Rodgers.

And now, it seems that Rangers have gotten away with yet another pattern of assistance in last night’s Scottish Cup win over Hibs.

Rangers escape VAR red card as Celtic get punished

Take a look at the photo before:

Now before anyone says it’s a still image it always looks worse. I agree, it always does. But you know what? I don’t care.

Seriously, I just don’t care. If that’s how Celtic are being judged by VAR then that’s how I want all clubs to be judged.

Except all clubs are. Bar one. And we all know who that is.

Rangers always seem to escape punishment whether it be for red cards or penalties, they seem untouchable by the SFA officials.

And it’s now getting to the point of near acceptance by the whole of Scottish football. Why it’s not even being called out in the Scottish media is beyond me.

But that doesn’t surprise me either. The years of EBT financial doping the Ibrox club got away with was unreal and when the Scottish media eventually picked up on it, it was already too late. Rangers died.

Until there is radical change at the top of the game and there is a complete overhaul on how we appoint referees in the Scottish Premiership, nothing will change. Ever. And that is so depressing.

  1. I remember Tiny Wharton… now irs even worse with the Crown Bar VAR.

  2. The worst thing about Rodgers’ case is that he is going into the hearing only willing to talk about the game at Swinecastle.
All the other cheating, selective blindness, dishonest mistakes etc will not be discussed.
Aye, your playing a blinder Rodgers NOT………….
