‘Serious consequences’ – Calls for John Beaton to be sanctioned for Celtic VAR mess

As the Celtic VAR shambles runs on into the weekend, it seems that the fallout of the controversy has no intention of slowing down.

John Beaton is under serious fire for his role in Celtic’s defeat at Hearts for his VAR intervention that resulted in Hyunjun Yang’s red card and a shocking penalty award for a bizarre Tomoki Iwata handball.

And as the ramifications of this are still not realised, there is the potential that it could cost Celtic the league and a £60m Champions League jackpot.

And that is why there are now calls by A Celtic State of Mind‘s John ‘Yogi’ Hughes to have the SFA official sanctioned.

Celtic must demand action for John Beaton’s VAR shambles

Hughes said, “But then the thing about that is, I thought it was, because it happens so often in Scotland, you think it’s the way things are done.

“I’ve watched European games and apparently, and bear with me here because I know this sounds crazy, the referee can go to the monitor and not agree with VAR. Isn’t that amazing?

“It’s gonna come as a huge revelation to most people, but apparently it’s only in Scotland you have to do what you’re told by the guy in the bus 100 miles away.

“Or in John Beaton’s case, the Crown Bar 100 miles away. The incompetence there, and we’ve said this before, you are either corrupt or you are wildly incompetent.

“And if you’re saying that there’s no bias there, then that is wildly incompetent. There should be sanctions for that.

“Someone has to be accountable for that. It has consequences, very serious consequences. And this season of all seasons has potentially £60m consequences.

“And what we’re just going to let him walk away from that? It’s unacceptable.” (A Celtic State of Mind)

This Celtic VAR furore is set to continue and it may die down at some point but it is safe to say that the Celtic fans’ suspicions of John Beaton, will not.
