Celtic Park: The Celtic Way

Located in Glasgow, Scotland, Celtic Football Club, also referred to as Celtic, is a professional football team.

The team plays in the Scottish Premiership and was established in 1887 in order to reduce poverty among the Irish-Scots residing in the East End of the city

In May 1888, they played their first game, a friendly against Rangers that Celtic won 5–2. After winning six straight league titles in the first ten years of the 1900s, Celtic made a name for themselves in Scottish football.

Under Jock Stein, the team achieved its biggest triumphs in the 1960s and 1970s, winning nine straight league titles as well as the 1967 European Cup.

There are only five clubs in the world with more than 100 trophies. Celtic are one of them. The team has won the Scottish Cup 41 times, the Scottish League Cup 21 times, and the Scottish League title 53 times, the most recent being in 2022–2023.

The most memorable season for the club came in 1966–1967, when, managed by the immortal Jock Stein, Celtic won the Scottish League Cup, the Scottish Cup, the Glasgow Cup, and the European Cup—becoming the first British team to do it. Moreover, Celtic made it to the 1970 and 2003 UEFA Cup Finals, however they lost both.

Celtic is considered to be one of the biggest football clubs in the world.

Over 160 Celtic supporter clubs may be found in more than 20 countries, with a global fan base estimated to number around 9 million.

In 2003 a crowd estimated at 80,000 attended the 2003 UEFA Cup Final in Seville, and the club received the FIFA and UEFA Fair Play awards for their “extraordinarily loyal and sporting behaviour” in the face of defeat.
