David Tanner makes two bizarre Celtic claims as his Rangers bias shines through on social media

David Tanner on commentary duty for Celtic in the Champions League

David Tanner is a weird wee guy whenever it comes to speaking about Celtic on social media.

The former sports reporter seems to always want to put the boot into Celtic whenever he gets the opportunity to do so on X and after yesterday’s Scottish Cup results, Tanner couldn’t resist to take a dig at our club once again.

And his bias towards Rangers on social media has not gone unnoticed before.

Tanner posted on social media channel X, “My first thought tonight is for Martin Boyle. I wish him a quick recovery.

“Big wins for Celtic & Rangers today. Under Beale, Rangers would have folded at Hibs. Celtic were poor – but still won.

“BR will hope to avoid Rangers in the semis to allow more time to get CCV & CalMac fit.”

David Tanner silent on Rangers fan sectarianism with Celtic criticism

Weirdly, Tanner was extremely quiet on the sectarian abuse Martin Boyle took at Easter Road but could somehow find the time to stick the boot into Celtic.

But that’s hardly surprising, is it? But at least he acknowledged the striker and wished him well.

So let’s take Tanner’s Celtic criticisms one by one. The first one being that we were poor yesterday. The match stats showed that Celtic had over 77% of the possession, 31 shots on goal with eleven of those on target.

Brendan Rodgers’s side also restricted Livingston to just five shots on goal of which they scored twice down to basic errors by Celtic. [BBC]

Had Celtic been clinical in front of goal, Daizen Maeda could have had six goals and the Hoops should have had the game out of sight in the first half.

And his second point about Brendan Rodgers wanting to avoid Rangers in the next round? Has Tanner forgotten that the Ibrox club have already suffered defeat to Celtic twice this season?

And over the last two seasons Rangers have failed to win a meaningful game against Celtic when it matters.

So please David, please do some fact-checking before spouting absolute nonsense on social media as you make yourself look dafter with each passing post.
