Celtic have been linked with various players over this transfer window and it was thought that the signing of Vinicius Souza was one that we would have completed to help bolster the squad for the Champions League.
But as the Brazilian made his bizarre choice to join Espanyol (even though he wanted European football next season) Ange Postecoglou will now need to turn his attentions elsewhere.
And it could revert back to Amadou Mbengue.
Celtic were linked with the 20 year old defensive midfielder back in May and it seems now that the pathway is clear to make their move after French media outlet LGM reported that his contract has now expired with Ligue 2 side Metz.
The Senegalese midfielder is highly rated and is tipped to join the Bundesliga but could the Hoops make their move and land their man on a free transfer?
