“When you’ve got a guy like that, you think of Ally McCoist” – Former Ibrox manager makes stunning Celtic striker comparison

When you think of Giorgos Giakoumakis you think of a powerful, no nonsense striker don’t you?

The guy is built like a machine and can handle himself against the burliest of defenders. So to make a comparison you would say maybe someone like Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink right? Maybe even Chris Sutton (without the muscles).

But Ally McCoist? Not having that.

Both are completely different strikers in style and technique but were I would agree is that inside the box, GG does have that predator instinct about him.

Alex McLeish is at it again. Fresh from trying to cast doubts on Karamoko Dembele, the former Ibrox boss made yet another claim about another of Celtic’s players.

Speaking to Football Insider, McLeish said ahead of the Livingston game, “Yeah, I could definitely see him starting.

“When he first came in, I saw a couple of things that made me think he looked a handful.

“His work for the goals he scored the other week was very good. He was getting into the right positions in the heart of the penalty box.

“When you’ve got a guy like that, you think of Ally McCoist, Frank McAvennie, the legends of the past.

“Now, I’m not saying he’s going to be the ‘next McAvennie’ or whatever, but he has good instincts in the box. You can’t coach that.”
