James Tavernier has to be the biggest myth on Scottish football that the Celtic fans have ever seen.
Well, that’s not entirely true. Steven Gerrard runs him close but you get what I mean.
The Rangers captain was inducted into the the Ibrox club’s Hall of Fame in a move that shook Scottish football to embarrassment.
Watching Celtic lift a second nine-in-a-row and a Quadruple Treble seems to be worthy of praise when, in truth, he’s nowhere near the great players of the old version of Rangers.
The media, however, will just not call Tavernier out for what he really is. That is until Peter Grant steps in.
The former Celtic hero nailed it with this summation of Tavernier and it’s about time the nonsense spoken about him was stopped.
Grant said (The Go Radio Football Show), “No matter how good an attacking player you are, defensively you’ve great be so strong, because that’s what you’re judged on.
“And I go back to James Tavernier. That’s why I always think there’s a question mark on him. When it’s come to the big games, he’s conceded goals at his back post because of his positioning.

“And if he had done that better then people would have no argument with him. His job is to be the best defender and unfortunately, in certain games, in gig games that’s what’s let him down and that’s why there’s question marks on him.”
Celtic fans have had question marks about him for years. Tavernier’s mistakes in Glasgow Derby’s are just legendary and he has been found out time and again when the big game comes around.
And when Celtic win the league this season, Captain Failure will remain just another poor defender who has failed to turn up when it matters for his club.
But it’s okay, he’s a Hall of Famer…
