Peter Grant warns rivals – “Celtic will refresh and maybe get rid of some of the boys that are here”

Celtic’s form domestically is second to none. Ange Postecoglou’s team have been imperious and have only dropped five points all season.

A loss to St Mirren and a draw at Ibrox keep the Hoops at the summit of Scottish football and will also give Postecoglou another crack at Champions League football.

Celtic performed admirably in Europe’s top competition but ultimately fell short as we still finished bottom of our group.

And Peter Grant rigorously defended Celtic’s performances with a warning to our rivals.

We are going to get stronger.

Speaking on BBC Sportsound, Grant warned, “The thing that impressed me is that they tried to win every single [Champions League] game.

And opportunities by Maeda after halftime at 0-0. Real Madrid showed their class and came out on top.

In every other game as well, they had the opportunity to win the games. And I think that’s the thing the manager will be looking at.

How can they improve on that? How can they win games in the Champions League?

People keep talking about Rangers going out and getting new players in the summer to strengthen.

I think Celtic will go do the same again. I think Celtic will refresh and maybe get rid of some of the boys that is here and then refresh it all.

“Because you’ve got to do that as champions and winning consistently. You have to freshen the training ground.”

There is absolutely no doubt that there will be players leaving this summer. We all know who they are. Out of all the loan players currently away from the club, only Adam Montgomery has a chance of succeeding at the club. But he must do it next season.

Having Greg Taylor and Bernabei in front of him will present a tough challenge but he does stand a chance.

But I guess this is just a timely reminder from Grant that although all the talk is about Rangers strengthening, Postecoglou will not rest on his laurels.
