The major Rangers Glasgow Derby flashpoint at Parkhead Celtic has neglected to address

With the next Glasgow Derby almost upon us, there is a huge issue from the last Parkhead clash that Celtic must address.

The 2-1 win over the Ibrox club was Brendan Rodgers‘ second victory over Rangers this season but it was overshadowed by a disgusting act of grossness by defender, Leon Balogun.

After being given his marching orders, Balogun was being ribbed by the Celtic supporters and as he entered the Parkhead tunnel, he appeared to spit towards one of the Celtic fans.

In fact, let’s just say he did it. He was caught on camera and it was reported to the club the same weekend by A Celtic State of Mind‘s, Paul John Dykes.

Celtic’s empty Glasgow Derby promise

Dykes said (A Celtic State of Mind), “I remember the game where we beat Rangers 2-1 where Leon Balogun was sent off and there was footage emerged of him spitting in the direction of a Celtic supporter.

“One of the guys who was there DM’d me to give me a breakdown of exactly what happened. Obviously all the excuses started coming out about chewing something off an energy drink or an energy bar, it doesn’t matter, he still spit it.

“I contacted the club, they told me they’d get back to me on Monday. That was a few Monday’s ago and it’s still not happened.”

It’s extremely disappointing that the club have yet to act on this as it has been over five months since the game took place.

Are Celtic happy for their supporters to be treated this way inside their own stadium? You could be damn sure if this was a Celtic player at Ibrox, Statement FC would have had their statement out and would be demanding titles being stripped and points deductions.

Celtic must still take action and demand answers and an apology but seeing as the amount of time that has passed is so significant, I wouldn’t hold my breath.
