A second Crawford Allan/Rangers coincidence comes to light that Celtic fans will find interesting

Match Day Celtic Park

As Celtic get ready to take on the SFA and the referees next week, it seems that Crawford Allan stepping down from his role has opened a whole can of worms.

We told earlier this week how a strange penalty coincidence came to light when Allan became the Head of Referees four years ago and how it coincided with Rangers having two incredible penalty-free suns in the SPFL.

I’ll be clear once again, this site not suggesting that any wrongdoing has taken place but there is another ‘ridiculous’ penalty coincidence that has now come to light when it comes it comes to differentials between Celtic and Rangers being awarded them and conceding them:

As Lint said, Celtic have been getting an unusually high number of penalties this season being awarded by the referees compared to the last two seasons.

This is just as well because unlike under Ange Postecoglou, Celtic’s performances have been so poor that refereeing decisions are now starting to affect the results of our matches.

Whereas under Ange, that simply wasn’t the case. Because Postecolgou made sure his teams were so good that no matter what the refs did, any decisions they made were immaterial to the result.

That’s where Brendan Rodgers needs to have Celtic. And it seems he is getting there after the performance against St Johnstone at the weekend.

Let’s hope that poor refereeing decisions don’t cost Celtic the title this season. However, the Hearts result may already have contributed to potentially losing the title.

This will make Rodgers’ SFA hearing next week all that more interesting and it will be good to see what the audio from the VAR sounds like, assuming it is available.

  1. I’ve disapproved of VAR since watching England v Scotland Women in a match Scotland clearing the ball and in England’s half attacking and pulled back for a penalty given to England

  2. VAR isn’t the problem. It’s the corrupt Scottish officials operating it. That’s the problem….
