Mark Warburton’s latest Celtic comments show just how tinpot Rangers really are

Former Rangers manager, Mark Warburton

Top of the league for the first time in over 18 months and the former Rangers media lackeys are really looking to put the boot into Celtic.

It’s not really a surprise, to be honest, and judging by the celebrations of the Sevco support last weekend just for going top of the league, the tinpot fraternity of their support really has come out from under their rocks.

However, it’s when former managers and players come out and start spouting nonsense is when you really realise just how much Celtic’s success has broken them over the years and just how small-time Rangers really are.

Take Mark Warburton for example. Brought in to replace Ally McCoist, Warburton found what it was really like to try and stop the Green Machine in his time in Glasgow.

And when asked what his greatest achievement was up in Glasgow with the Ibrox club, Warburton gave an answer that is indicative of just how small time this lot has become.

Warburton said (No Tippy Tappy Football), “If I was speaking with a sensible head-on, my best memory there would be winning the league and getting them back into the Premiership.

“Beating Celtic in that semi-final on penalties is also up there for me as well as for the fanbase, having been relegated down the divisions and back up.

“It was the first time the Old F*rm was back at Hampden Park and to have a game of that nature with the excitement of the extra time and the penalties, it had everything, it was a magnificent game. I knew what it meant for the blue side of Glasgow, so that has to be the standout memory.”

Seriously. And after beating Celtic in that semi-final, how did that turn out for Warburton? Hibs rocked up to Hampden on cup final day and put them in their place and it was superb.

But to place JUST beating Celtic, and not in regulation time either, as top of his achievements in Glasgow would have the Old Rangers spinning in their grave.
