The Gustaf Lagerbielke debacle at Celtic has been a transfer story that even I find unbelievable. And I’ve seen Marvin Commper and Raphael Sheidt at the club.
Spending £3m on player then discarding him like a wet paper towel six months later smacks of sheer incompetence by the club.
And BTW, whilst we are talking about the club living within their means and being frugal with their money, the board sure have a funny way of showing it after splurging almost £6m on three players (Tilio, Kwon and Lagerbielke) and seemingly writing it off on a whim.
However, the narrative surrounding Lagerbielke is quikly being dispelled as a myth. It is believed that Brendan Rodgers doesn’t fancy the Swede because he is too slow.
Yeah, too slow. When we have a team with a captain who has no pace, a winger in Palma who looks like he is towing a caravan and one of our best players in Matt O’Riley that even I could beat in a 50m sprint (maybe) then I smell the proverbial sh*te.
And whilst that seems to be the rumour to why Rodgers is keen to offload Lagerbielke, these Celtic fans are seeing through that after watching the team struggle against Aberdeen on Saturday.
We can’t call on lager now…the boy has been destroyed by our farcical actions

Seen enough of nawrocki against miovski to know the boys a dud.

I refuse to believe lagerbielke is far worse than Scales, Nawrocki or Welsh. Not a chance.
The thing about Lagerbielke is looking at the timeline BR was in the job 2 months before we signed Gus. What was Brendan doing?

For me Lagerbielkes’s biggest problem hasn’t been his pace, it’s been that he is too slow on the ball, he takes too long to make a decision and got caught on the ball a couple of times and looked like he could be really open to being pressed in possession

The Swede has been dealt a harsh hand by Celtic and the club should be embarrassed over the whole sorry saga.
How they scouted, paid £3m and then gave him £14k per week is an incredible act of mismanagement and wasted resources and heads, surely, must roll.
