‘Sexual’ – Matt O’Riley lauded for the ‘unbelievable’ thing he did against Feyenoord

Celtic Park

Prior to Celtic’s win over Feyenoord in the Champions League last night, there was a lot of pressure on the players to get that elusive win to ensure it wasn’t another full season before the Hoops won a game in Europe’s top competition.

It was ten years since the Hoops recorded a victory in the tournament and when Gustaf Lagerbielke nodded home that winner in the dying minutes of the game, Celtic Park erupted with joy and relief.

But it wasn’t the goal that sent ACSOM contributor, Kevin McCluskey, over the edge. It was what Matt O’Riley did just before it that left him delighted.

McCluskie said (A Celtic State of Mind), “I don’t know what you say about Matt O’Riley’s touch for the goal. Sexual. San I say that in this show?

“We are after the watershed let’s just do it.

“It was unbelievable. Just brings it down and beats his man in one motion and picks out Lagerbielke.

“I mean we said it before, Celtic’s a club that’s built in history and romance and there’s the fairy tale element.

“Well here’s a man who was a villain (Lagerbielke) in the first game against Feyenoord who’s just become the hero in the last game and gets all those monkeys off the back about not having won a game in Europe.”

O’Riley has proven once again just how valuable he is to Celtic both on and off the park.

Once touted for a £10m move to Leeds United, O’Riley’s value has just sky-rocketed after yet another incredible performance in the Champions League.

£10m seems like chump change now. Teams will need to more than double that after watching him last night.
