Barry Ferguson hails ‘brilliant piece of business’ who is Celtic’s best player alongside Callum McGregor

Celtic are blessed with an abundance of talent at their disposal.

Ange Postecoglou has worked miracles in the transfer department since his tenure began last June and so far, he has gotten almost all of his signings right.

But which one was Barry Ferguson talking about when he hailed him as one of Celtic’s best players?

Reo Hatate? Jota? Matt O’Riley?

Nope.

Step forward Cameron Carter-Vickers.

The big American international has been sensational for Celtic and it really showed when he was out injured for a few weeks last month just how badly we missed him.

And Barry Ferguson was talking him up.

Speaking on The Go Radio Football Show, Ferguson said, “He’s come on leaps and bounds. There’s no doubt about it.

And that was a big capture for Celtic in the summer. His mistakes get highlighted, but that’s because he makes very few.

He’s got the armband for a reason because clearly on the training pitch, he has demands and expectations.

That’s what you need off a top player. So yeah, I think it was a brilliant piece of business. Because he’d been out on a few loans. Not that they didn’t work, he did okay.

He came up here, and I’ll be honest, the first six months I’m looking and I’m thinking ‘He’s alright‘.

Then I thought the final part of last season, he was Celtic’s best player alongside Callum McGregor.

They’re a weaker team when he’s out the team. Celtic are far weaker. There’s no doubt about that.”

Carter-Vickers has done so well at the club that he has made the cut for the USA World Cup squad.

And what that does is make our club a more attractive proposition to targets as they know that if they play well for our club, you can carve out an international career as well.

CCV will continue to dominate Scottish football hopefully, for years to come.
