“He would have been a superstar with us” – Does former Celt look back on his career with regret?

Celtic Park

There have been numerous players that have come to Celtic for a season and left far too early for my liking.

Remember players like Jorge Cadete? Paulo di Canio? All brilliant players but left before they could really cement their place in our history.

But one player that also left far too early was John Guidetti. Arrived on loan at Celtic in 2014, Guidetti came to Paradise as a highly rated youngster and managed eight goals in 24 appearances.

Not a great return, but when you look at what he did when he eventually left Man City to join Celta Vigo, he still didn’t really set the heather on fire. 22 goals in 95 games he managed.

And this is where this opinion gets controversial. Kevin Graham on A Celtic State of Mind claims that Guidetti would have been a legend at the club if he just hung around that little bit longer, “Guidetti is one that, he should look back on his time at Celtic in absolute regret and go, ‘Why did I no stay there?‘ He would have been a superstar with us.

He would have scored loads of goals for us.

He had that personality which would have made him a cult hero for us easily.

And we are the biggest club that he has ever played for and I’m talking about fan base, history wise.

We are bigger than Man City and we are the biggest club John Guidetti has ever player for and that should haunt his waking hours.”

I think the only thing I agree with on this is that we are a bigger club than Man City.

But Guidetti a superstar? I can’t see that. Can you?
