Jim Spence’s brilliant swipe at media blackout of Sevco sectarian singing

The sectarian songbook was ramped up in full force at Dens Park on Sunday afternoon.

As *Rangers booked their place in the Scottish Cup semi finals, the achievement was largely marred by their away support indulging in their usual sectarian bile.

As the team enjoyed dominance on the pitch, their support disgraced them off it. For the second away match in a row.

Against St Johnstone the full repertoire of dirge was rolled out and there was media silence on it.

At Dens Park, again, the F**k the Pope chants and the mindless racism was all too evident from the stands, as was the silence in front of the camera’s as no one at Premier Sports dared speak out about it.

Frustrated with that, a Celtic fan tweeted John Hartson, Chris Sutton and Jim Spence about the silence from the broadcaster.

Only one replied. But the reply hit the nail right on the head:

Spence famously was ‘let go’ by the BBC for admitting live on air that the club playing from Ibrox was new one and he regularly airs his views on this matter on Twitter.

But it is interesting that he is lambasting the Scottish media for their two faced-ness at dealing with sectarian issues in Scottish football in favour of their employers.

Ask yourself this. Would the be as complaint if it was a black man being abused like this from the stands?

We all know the answer to that one.

  1. Jim Spence is bang on. Career (use that term very lightly) Journalist who’ve sold their soul. Stop buying their papers or whatever media forum. Also recommend people to defund the BBC. There’s a couple of good posts on YouTube on the best ways to go about this.
