‘Astonishing and depressing’ – Anthony Joseph and the Celtic fans condemn Ally McCoist after he made Glasgow Derby Hate Bill ‘guarantee’

talkSPORT host, Ally McCoist

The run up to every Glasgow Derby always has always been one that, as a Celtic fan, I’ve always enjoyed.

The big prematch build up is excellent as the Rangers fans get carried away with their predictions on how much they will beat us by and the Celtic fans sit in dignified silence just waiting on their heroes to do their talking on the pitch.

The Ibrox support have a along history of letting their mouths run away with themselves and it’s great when they have to eat humble pie after every Derby defeat.

However, it’s a high-profile Rangers supporter who has let his mouth run away with him this time. And that supporter is Ally McCoist.

The former Rangers hero is now enjoying punditry duties on talkSPORT but this morning, he got carried away with himself as he got over excited about the build up to the big match.

The bigotry and bile that emanates from the Ibrox stands is sickening and the introduction of the new Hate Crime bill is meant to help tackle such things.

And as Ally spoke about this new law, he said that he and 48,000 other Rangers fans will break that law at Ibrox this Sunday.

McCoist said, “We’ve got a hate bill, by the way. A hate bill has been passed in the country.

“And I can guarantee you, next Sunday at Ibrox, I, along with 48,000 will be committing a breach of that hate bill in the particular Rangers vs Celtic game we are all going to. It is madness.”

Where to even start with that. McCoist really should know better as he has now given 48,000 fans the green light to spew whatever hatred they want to with impunity.

Not that they need an excuse. But instead of gleefully admitting he intends to partake in hate singing, McCoist would have been better served asking his fellow Rangers supporters to respect the law and those of different religions that the Ibrox fans gleefully sing about killing.

It was idiotic and Sky Sports’ Anthony Joseph and the Celtic fans called him out on it.

“We’ve got a hate bill, by the way. A hate bill has been passed in the country”, he said.

“And I can guarantee you, next Sunday at Ibrox, I, along with 48,000 will be committing a breach of that hate bill in the particular Rangers vs Celtic game we are all going to. It is madness.”

  1. The sad thing is that all he and the rest of them have to do is to not sing anything about hating Irish catholics. The fact they can’t do that simple task (or can’t be forced to) says it all about them and ‘our’ country.

  2. See that little reptile Mcoist has slithered his way out of that one . After giving it the big wan.
