The Easter Bank Holiday weekend brought with it a plethora of football games for the Celtic fans to enjoy.
After witnessing Rangers get another pattern of assistance against Hibs with a shocking VAR penalty, the Celtic fans knew that heading to Livingston, their team would need to be on top of their game to ensure the three points headed back to Parkhead with them.
Brendan Rodgers was in the stand for this one as he served his one match ban, John Kennedy was a fine stand in manager as he led the side to a 3-0 victory over David Martindale’s men.
But it was Celtic’s opener that had BBC journalist, Tom English, all in a flap. The Celtic songbook was in full flow and the BBC man was quick to point it out on social media.
Whilst some fans are not particularly fond of the IRA chanting there are others that are.
But the main issue with English is his selective outrage. The sectarian singing was in full flow once more at Ibrox as the Rangers fans sang about the Pope, killing Catholics and all the rest of the anti-Irish and anti-Catholic tunes they have in their songbook.

And how many times did English speak out about that on Saturday? Zero. Absolutely nothing from the journalists which is strange as the Ibrox support hate his homeland as much as he loves it.
He really is a bizarre guy and his selective outrage was called out by the Celtic fans:
You show your anger by mentioning this. Not a peep about the songbook at ibrox yesterday.

How about u grow a pair Tom!? Always quick to condemn Celtic at any opportunity. But can easily turn a blind eye when it’s ur own team, or u become a rugby man again. Suppose it’s whatever fits ur narrative🤔. Just u keep toeing the BBC line and you’ll be fine until retirement 🤡

Your agenda against Celtic is going over the top now, we all know your HATRED for the Champions is quite evident for everyone to see, I feel sorry for you, your HATRED for Celtic is definitely effecting you big time,

IRA chants ain't for me tom but they are political not sectarian but you have some degree of selective hearing.maybe all those years of Stewart Robertson and Ibrox in your ear has'nt helped your hearing? No pope in Rome..FTP and the Vatican..up to our knees..'ring any bells?

What’s wrong with singing songs about freedom fighters who stood against an oppressive invader Tom?
— Neil 🍀 (@NRKBhoy) March 31, 2024
Same as when they score at ibrox they sing about Bobby sands being dead, what’s yer point Tom???

Any mention of Rangers Football Club v Hibs pre Match & at half time playing 'Sloop John B', aka The Famine's Over, Why Don't You Go Home(??) Tune.

Why is this the thing you have picked out?? When other teams score do you examine what songs they sing? Your a sports writer so write about the sport or treat every other team the same and comment on what songs they sing

If sectarianism is to be called out it should be done so without fervour or favour.
Targetting the Celtic support does seem to be the Scottish media’s modus operandi whenever the opportunity presents itself and their silence on the singing that comes from Ibrox is palpable.
But it’s of little surprise. Scottish journalists don’t want to upse lt the apple cart as they know that if they do speak out about the Ibrox club, they will suffer as the blue pound stops getting spent on their rags or clicked on their articles. They really are a sorry bunch.
