Celtic fans will love what the SFA are doing about Hibernian after what the Edinburgh club said about Rangers on social media

Celtic fans following the team in Europe.

All last week this site spoke about Rangers, pattern of assistance as the Celtic fans got fed up with match officials giving the Ibrox club a wee helping hand.

We have spoken on numerous occasions of how Rangers seem to get the majority of favourable decisions going their way and against Hibs at Ibrox yesterday, it was no different.

The Ibrox club got their obligatory weekly penalty whilst the score was tied at 0-0 and it was a VAR decision that enraged BBC pundit, Michael Stewart.

Stewart couldn’t contain his anger as he watched VAR award the Rangers penalty that could have helped open up the scoring.

And whilst Stewart ranted, Hibs’ official X account tweeted this superb message:

Hibs are only saying what everyone has been thinking for years and now the SFA have stepped in to charge the club.

The Edinburgh club broke Rule 29 of the SFA handbook and now are set to face the Hampden beaks soon.

Rule 29.1 states: “A club or recognised football body which publishes, distributes, issues, sells or authorises a third party to publish, distribute, issue or sell a match programme or any other publication or audio/visual material, including but not limited to the internet, social networking or micro-blogging sites, shall be held responsible for all matters contained therein.”

Rule 29.2 goes on to say: “A club shall ensure that any such publications or audio/visual material does not contain any criticism of any match official calculated to indicate bias or incompetence on the part of such match official or to impinge upon his character.”

The charge is reminiscent of the one Brendan Rodgers faced as the Celtic manager called out the match officials after the 2-0 defeat to Hearts last month.

Rodgers got a one match ban and a further game suspended so it will be interesting to see how the SFA take this one forward.

  1. If the person responsible for the tweet doesn’t manage, coach or play for the team they can’t suspend him/her. Therefore it will have to be a fine or a slap on the wrist. Then again the SFA could open up a right can of worms and impose a points deduction. Now that would be fun.
