Report tipping who will be next Rangers manager is one that all Celtic fans will get onboard with

Ibrox Stadium

You know it’s international week when the tabloids start meaningless rumours about clubs players and managers.

Normally it’s about Celtic as the media look to hawk our best players about for moves away from Paradise.

But this time the next rumour is about who will become the next Rangers manager.

Now bear in mind that Philippe Clement is just in the door and getting into the ways of Rangers with his latest nonsensical media comments.

There’s something about that club that sends rational, decent human beings into raving mumbling idiots but, somehow, they manage to do it.

But it seems that with Clement, the tabloids are looking to who could take over from the Belgian presumably if he gets binned when he fails to win the league this season.

Pete O’Rourke from Football Insider has claimed that the Ibrox club are admirers of the Hearts manager and eyeing him up as a possible successor to Clement.

The report states, “Gers are happy with Philippe Clement’s progress at the club since replacing Michael Beale at Ibrox in October 2023, but view Naismith as a future manager once he gains more experience.”

Excellent. Get him in. Because if anything this season has taught us about Naismith is that he only gets his teams up for the big games against us.

Against the others, too many daft dropped points against the likes of Hibs, Ross County and St Mirren have shown he hasn’t got what it takes to be the Ibrox gaffer.

He doesn’t have the mentality to take the mantle from Clement when you look at his results this season in the top flight.

With a win percentage of 53%, Naismith seems to just getting touted for the job mainly because of his two wins against Celtic.

Interestingly, the Hearts manager’s record against Rangers is unsurprisingly woeful. In five meetings against the Ibrox club he lost four and drawn one with 13 goals conceded and just five scored. (Transfermarkt)

So it does seem like he has earned the Ibrox move should it ever come up.

I say give him it. Give the job to a coach who has really done nothing to earn it except for being an ex-player and seemingly not trying too hard agains them whenever his Hearts team come up against them.

The meltdown from the Ibrox hordes would be worth watching Naismith fail alone.
