‘No way’ – Celtic fans react to latest £8.5m transfer rumour

Celtic fans following the team in Europe.

Celtic’s interest in Brondby striker, Mathias Kvistgaarden had seemingly gone down like a lead balloon with the Hoops support.

The 21-year-old forward has been linked to Celtic since the summer and after a Champions League campaign that saw the Hoops knocked out of Europe before Christmas, Brendan Rodgers is now looking to add more quality to his squad.

Valued at £8.5m, the thought of Celtic spending that kind of cash is really unbelievable but that’s not what’s on the mind of the Celtic fans.

And on this thread on social media channel X, they made their feelings completely clear on the 21-year-old.

Mathias Kvistgaarden to Celtic heavily scrutinised

One fan wasn’t convinced that Kvistgaarden is built for the Scottish game, “No way, we have too many midgets already. Far too lightweight. What’s the obsession with buying small players??

Another questioned the striker’s goalscoring record, “5 goals in 17 games in the league will fit in well with the current crop lol.”

One questioned how Celtic’s current style of play wouldn’t suit the young forward, “Why would we sign a Kyogo-type player when the style of football we play clearly doesn’t suit that type of player?”

Another was left unimpressed with this one, “Another Scandinavian random. Typical Celtic.”

This Celtic fan questioned whether or Rodgers’ style suited the player, “What’s the point in buying similar players to Kyogo when Rodgers is just going to ruin them anyway with his crap style and mismanagement why are we just going to throw money at him when he doesn’t actually deserve it get a manager who doesn’t get beat off of a rookie at home.”

It seems the fans are not completely convinced on Rodgers’ ability to get a tune out of Kvistgaarden considering how much Kyogo Furuhashi has fallen from grace this season.

Kvistgaarden can play as a winger and maybe Rodgers is looking to bolster that department so he can get more out of Kyogo in the second half of the season.

Whatever the plan is on this transfer it’s going to take a lot to convince the Celtic fans that this is the right move for not only the club, but the player as well.
