The Scottish Sun ran another edition of a story that was debunked weeks ago as they tried to ramp up the feel good Sevco factor last night. And the Celtic fans lambasted them for it.
The pathetic report claimed that The Rangers were somehow ruled out of participating in the Club World Cup and therefor missed out on a whopping £50m.
The fact that they were always ineligible for the tournament seemed to be lost on the publication but still, they decided to run with this headline.
Indeed, we all know and I suspect even The Scottish Sun knew as well that Rangers were never in the running and it boggles the mind that they still went ahead and published the story.
With FIFA already making it clear that Champions League coefficient points determine whether or not clubs qualify for the tournament, the competition’s worst ever team were immediately ruled out after getting pumped last season in every game they played.
On the thread, these Celtic fans roasted the newspaper for repeating a claim that was debunked weeks ago by many bloggers and other media outlets.
One fan pointed out one huge flaw in The Sun’s argument, “Reason – they crocked it in 2012 and have had 12 years since as a tribute act suffering pain, misery and embarrassment. This during a time we’ve been fkn buzzing.”
Whilst another pointed out the blatantly obvious about the claim, “They were never considered, this was pointed out a while back.”
And one other Celtic fan accused The Sun of lying about various news reports on the new club, “The fantasy cup. Same as the Tillman money then Morelos and all the teams that weren’t after him after all Kent as well.
“BTW the £16 million from Everton for the right back was actually £3 million Etc etc. Why are these rags allowed to make this sh–e up? Pathetic.”
They wouldn’t do that now, would they? What would be the reason? The media agenda is clear.
Hold up Sevco as a beacon of light whilst trying to diminish Celtic at every turn. We see you.
