‘The smack on the face’ – Has Philippe Clement gone full Sevco after Rangers red card claim?

Ibrox Stadium

It seems that it doesn’t take long for new Rangers managers to fit in with the Sevco way of thinking.

The man in the bush took a couple of weeks. Gerrard took just 90 minutes after he claimed the referee’s where out to get Rangers and now it’s the turn of Clement.

After Dujon Sterling saw red last night, Clement made two bizarre claims that will endear him to Sevco masses but will have the rest of Scottish football laughing up their sleeves.

Clement said [Daily Record], “Dujon, for me, slipped, and he touches the toes of the opponent. Ok, it’s for sure a yellow card.

“If you give red cards for touching the toes of the opponent there will be a lot of red cards. For me, the smack on the face of Connor Goldson needs to be red.

“I know being a referee is the most difficult job in the world, I would not want to be in their place, I do my job every day and make mistakes. We need to accept the decision was made.”

Have a watch of the challenge here:

That was some effing slip Phil! Now I’ve slipped plenty of times in my life but never two footed and at least twelve inches off the ground.

Is the pressure of almost making top spot getting the Rangers new boy giddy? Let’s hope because excuses like these are why Phil will bring back The Banter Years.

  1. That was as clear a red card as you’ll see all season what Kenny Miller’s smacking his gums about is utter gibberish, he’s close to Boyd for being the most stupid pundit in Scottish football. I’d never tire of punching either of these clowns to death, they’re supposed to be reasonable and balanced but you couldn’t get two bigger Ibrox apologists than those two.
