Out of all the takes from Celtic’s Sunday game against Hearts, this has to be up there with one of the worst of them.
After VAR did all it could to destroy the game as a contest, one influential social media account decided to call out Tomoki Iwata for his performance at Tynecastle.
Iwata was given the task to partner Paulo Bernardo in the heart of Celtic’s midfield. Something he hasn’t done all season.
And after Hyunjun Yang was ordered off in the 16th minute, the Japanese midfielder’s task just got a lot harder.
So criticise him so harshly is way over the top. And ‘Agent Scotland’ was certainly told all about it.
Celtic fans slaughter Tomoki Iwata criticism
The Celtic fans are not daft. If Iwata was in any way to blame for that defeat at Tynecastle then you had better believe the Japan midfielder would have been called out.
The cold hard facts are that being down to ten men at the best of times is tough, being a man down at Tynecastle is even harder.
We all know the diets up their game against us and after being drubbed 5-0 with the dross from Ibrox, you could have put money on Steven Naismith making sure his side would have been up for this one.
However, back to Iwata. Apart from one mistake, he did okay in the circumstances and he certainly doesn’t deserve to be chastised or singled out by anyone.
And these Celtic fans let this account know all about it:
Shut up ya bunch of clowns

Hard to judge this performance given we’ve played most of the game with 10 men. We’ve lacked creativity but we were relying on Yang for that. Palma should have replaced Maeda at half time too.

Some absolutely ridiculous replies on here. We score the penalty and it’s a different game, including Yang not getting sent off. Ref and Beaton made sure of the result.

Bit harsh imo, he got caught bad for hearts offside goal a couple of poor touches but he did the running of two players in a 3 man midfield to allow 2 strikers

Iwata was miles away from being the issue today. An absolute joke of a take!

Wholly disagree, one of the players to get pass marks.
