Celtic have a number of players that have given James Tavernier nightmares over the years. The Rangers captain had to watch Scott Brown lift trophy after trophy as he dominated Scottish football.
Tavernier also watched Jota and Liel Abada slaughter his defenders in Glasgow Derby games as both wingers gave Borna Barisic and even Tavernier himself a torrid time.
But it’s none of these players that the Rangers captain will be glad to see the back of when he eventually leaves Celtic. If he does at all.
The Rangers captain has been told that he must hate Daizen Maeda as the Japanese workhorse doesn’t give the Ibrox leader a minute whenever he plays against him. It’s why the Celtic fans love him.

“Because it looks like Palma is not going to be fit for that. So it’s probably going to be Maeda and Yang if Yang’s back and firing and picks up the form that he left.
“Tavernier hates him.”
Just like Abada, Maeda has been a constant thorn in Rangers’ side over the past two years. The Japan international has faced Tavernier twelve times.
Over those occasions the 26-year-old has had the better of the Rangers captain eight times, drawn two and lost only two. (Transfermarkt)
Maeda has scored once against the Ibrox club but has also created three. But it’s not his creativity that has been a nightmare for Tavernier.
Maeda just does not give him peace, He also keeps him in check by snuffing out his attacking threat and constant harrying.
Maeda is going nowhere anytime soon. Tavernier will just need to put up with it for the next few years.

Hold on, so you complain about getting the views of Celtic fans and then complain about getting quotes from pundits? What exactly is it you want? Me, I personally prefer the opinion of real Celtic fans but if you don’t then continue to buy the Daily Record mate.
