‘He’s got Dermot Desmond’s ear’ – Who really has the power at Celtic

Celtic manager, Brendan Rodgers.

Since Brendan Rodgers took over at Celtic there has always been the question on whether he has the power he really needs to take the club forward.

Journalists and pundits have long since questioned the Celtic manager‘s influence at the club ever since he started to snub practically all his summer signings.

This then led to questions on whether or not all the players recruited last summer were actually Rodgers‘.

So does the Irishman hold the balance of power he so dearly needs to keep control of all goings on at the club?

It seems so according to James at The Celtic Exchange.

Brendan Rodgers has the power he needs at Celtic

James said (The Celtic Exchange), “What I would say if you want to save yourself some time as a Celtic fan get behind Brendan Rodgers as he’s here for the long term. I don’t see him moving anywhere and, in fact, I think it is going quite in the opposite direction.

“I think he’s started to increase his power base at Celtic, Mark Lawwell was part of that, and increase his influence.

“You’ve got to bear in mind that Brendan Rodgers has Dermot Desmond‘s ear, and that is all accounts at Celtic.

“If you’ve got the Dermot Desmond’s ear, you’ve got the route to action. I think things will start to happen in the summer in terms of Rodgers putting his stamp on things and bringing his own structure and players.

“But Rodgers is making noises that sound like he’s just here on just have a go. He’s here for a three-year project, whatever that may be.

“So if you’re looking for ‘told you so’s’ you got another two and a bit year wait.”

So it seems that Rodgers does wield the axe of power in the Parkhead corridors and that is exactly how it should be.

We all saw how effectively it works when the Celtic manager is given the free reign to run the club as he sees fit.

Ange Postecoglou was the case and point here. The Australian did it his way and look how successful he was.

If Rodgers gets that kind of power then I would suspect we will see a different Celtic next season. That is as long as he wins the league this season, of course.

  1. What a load of s**te !!!
If he had any power at Celtic Park he would have the QUALITY he’s been screaming out for.
It all points to him making noises, knowing full well the fix is in for this season but he can build a team next year AFTER the h*ns get the £60m champions league money.
    A year too f*ckin late !!!
    Old F*rm Franchise FC !!!

  2. If Brendan dose have power, and Celtic win a very haphazard League title, he wil get funds to build on his team.
Wether its domestic or Europe, either, his CV will enhance and could be off to the highest bidder.
But what if he might stop at Celtic and have ambitions of running Celtic from a Board prospect prospective ?
He might be good that, plus he’s Irish, traditional foundation, back to Sainthood again, you never ever know HH🍀

  3. I have to agree with that William regarding the O.F.F. but do you think The Rangers would be willing to reciprocate next season to let us win or will they throw this seasons £60M (assuming they don’t collapse in the run in) into building a team to keep their foot on our neck long term?
