“My information is” – Phil Mac says there is trouble at Sevco after Philippe Clements transfer comments

“Not the most wealthy club” he said. As Philippe Clement plots to topple Celtic, those words seem to suggest that maybe the Belgian manager was made promises that have not been kept when he agreed to take the Ibrox hot seat.

After Michael Beale was unceremoniously sacked by Rangers after failing to get near Brendan Rodgers‘ side, in came Clement and already it looks like cracks could be appearing between the Rangers boss and the boardroom.

We told how Phil Mac Ghiolla Bhain suggested that qualifying from the Europa League would determine how much money he got to spend in January.

Indeed, Clement delivered and yet, he still calmed the Ibrox hordes’ January expectations with those comments and it seems that those words did not go down well in Govan. That’s according to the Irish blogger.

In his blog this week, Phil said, “My information is that this continental candour prompted the Dalai Lama of the Blue Room to arrive at the training centre with some haste.

“I am told that a free and frank exchange of views with the current Sevco manager then ensued.

“Perhaps it will be their last face-to-face interaction for a while.

“Thankfully, that nice young Mr Bisgrove is available to be a messenger, keeping communication open between the two alpha males.”

Of course, Rangers have added to their squad since then. No doubt in a deal that will include instalments for the next X number of years and other performance-based fees but the reality is, that in their accounts the Ibrox club are not made of money.

After Beale wasted millions in the summer on dross, it seems Clement will need to rely on the wheeling and dealing of the Ibrox money men to add more bodies in their hopes of beating Celtic to the title.
