Barry Ferguson admits Gerrard ‘talked up’ Alfie as Sevco star is pied by former gaffer

Remember when Steven Gerrard ran for the Ibrox exit doors as soon as Aston Villa came calling.

And remember when there was to be a mass exodus of world beating *Rangers stars going to join him? If you don’t, take a wee second to remind yourself here. Some of the prices being quoted for their second rate players are phenomenal.

Davie Provan and Barry Ferguson were speaking Gerrard and transfers when the talk, inevitably, turned to wee super Alfie.

A *Rangers fan called the show to say that the Colombian will only see Champions League football at his club as any move to England won’t involve going to the top four clubs.

A very, very obvious statement and Barry agreed, “He’ll no go to the top four. No chance. If a Premier League club was interested it would be mid table. No doubt about that”

Davie Provan asked, “Are you surprised Steven Gerrard hasn’t come in for him Barry?”

Ferguson very eloquently repleid, “Ahm are. Cause I know he liked him.”

Then Provan butted in and said, “Do you think Gerrard was just talking him up?”

Ferguson replied, “Yeah probably . Probably to try and get top dollar.

Clearly that’s the case as Gerrard has come nowhere near Ibrox for any of their top ‘stars’ as he instead focuses on players who actually have a chance of competing in the EPL.
