Paddy Power absolutely nail Fabio Silva with superb tweet after Celtic draw with Rangers

Celtic Park

What’s worse than a Glasgow Derby defeat for the Celtic fans? When a win is snatched through a blatant act of cheating from a Rangers player.

Fashion Sakala done it two seasons ago when he fell over Carl Starfelt’s boot and the referee awarded a penalty for it. And it’s happened again today in the 3-3 Ibrox draw.

Yeah, I said it. Celtic were robbed of two precious points at Ibrox today due to the fact that Fabio Silva dived to win a penalty and John Beaton and the VAR team bought it.

The Rangers winger was at it all day as he seemed to drop to the floor every single time a Celtic player got near him.

In fact, it’s a wonder how Beaton never booked him for simulation before the penalty award but is it really a surprise when you consider Beaton’s leaning towards a certain team in Glasgow?

Anyway, I digress. Back to Tom Daley…I mean Fabio Silva.

The Portuguese bought a penalty this afternoon and it changed the dynamic of the game because Rangers had just been booed off the park at half time by angry bears and looked down and out.

And Silva’s diving was so bad, that bookmaker, Paddy Power, superbly called him out on it with a superb post on social media channel X.

It might seem like a joke, but there is an element of truth in the tweet.

In fact, scrub that. It’s overwhelmingly the truth. What I want to know is did Silva manage to walk past the Celtic dugout without falling down as well because that would have been some achievement for him.

It’s time something was done not only about the standard of refereeing in this country but also a retrospective punishment for offences like this.

You know, in the interest of the sporting integrity the new club seems to batter on about when it’s rotting carcass of an Oldco so blatantly didn’t mind bothering about when it used EBTs to keep itself alive.

Of course, nothing will be said. The club will do nothing and the SFA will hope that this just quickly disappears from into the night.

In truth, this is Celtic’s fault. They allowed John Beaton to be put in charge of this fixture without barely a whimper. And look what it’s cost us.

Two points that could prove crucial in the title run in. Let’s hope that’s not the case come the end of the season.
