I bet Alloa have never had as much coverage in their 144 year history as they have had in the last four days.
The absolute shambles of a football team that scythed down the Celtic players in the Scottish Cup on Saturday night have taken a hefty amount of criticism on social media in the last few days.
And in particular, THAT challenge on Yosuke Ideguchi from Mouhamed Niang.
The Celtic midfielder faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines after that reckless challenge and no sooner had his manager, Barry Ferguson, defended his players for their shocking conduct on the pitch, the SFA had issued a notice of complaint against the on loan Alloa midfielder.
Niang faces a retrospective red card which would mean a two game ban but it is already too little too late as the punishment for the crime does nothing to advantage Celtic, but only disadvantage Alloa for their next two fixtures.
And not for the first time this season as well.
And as soon as the announcement was made, it was met with incredulity by the Celtic support:
The SFA can confirm….Mission accomplished…Again.

Plus the tackles on Tierney and Frimpong, both player accepted 2 match bans? Our board are compliant with their silence 🤬 will end up with a players career being ended b4 our board act,and only because an asset is no longer an asset

How many retrospective red cards in the last 3 years? What good does it do the aggrieved team? We sit with players injured, they got to play with 11 men on the field, and will continue to do so.

If the hearing concludes that this is a Red card offence, what action will the @ScottishFA take with Robertson who overlooked a similar (although worse) assault on On Turnbull by Butcher a few weeks ago. Robertson habitually ignores assaults on Celtic players!

What about his manager #EBTcheatFerguson Should he not be done for giving his team instructions to injure players as he has freely admitted?

The pattern of retrospective action involving lenient thuggery against Celtic is very telling.
Refereed to a totally different standard & club does nothing.
Duty of care to players isn’t important to them…why?— Cosmo (@cosmohairytoes) January 25, 2022
Another retrospective case after an honest mistake.

It’s time for the Celtic board to show a set of balls and take action before one of out players is put out of the game for good.
