It’s really not a real Glasgow Derby unless we mention Connor Goldson getting up to no good against Celtic, is it?
The Rangers defender is usually one for getting away with handballs with impunity. I’ve genuinely lost count of the number of times he’s played basketball in the SPFL.
Thankfully, his luck ran out against Celtic on Sunday and John Beaton, correctly, awarded a penalty for another handball.
But it seems that Goldson is getting bored of playing handball and instead is taking up the Fabio Silva past-time of diving.
Goldson fell after Matt O’Riley tackle
A sharp-eyed Celtic fan caught Goldson at it again after being challenged for the ball by Celtic midfielder, Matt O’Riley.

Have a watch of this:
Now you might ask what’s so important about this? O’Riley wins the ball fair and square. Had Beaton done his job correctly and waved play on, Kyogo Furuhashi was on his left-hand side and clear on goal which could have led to another Celtic goal to effectively kill off the game.
But then he wasn’t the only one at it as well. Diomande did the exact same thing in the lead-up to Rangers’ ‘penalty’.
And if Beaton (and VAR) had been on it, they would have firstly allowed play to continue in Celtic’s favour and, secondly, if they stood by their freekick award, play should have been pulled back because the ball was still moving.
Again, have a look at this:
Tbh I’m not too serious about it,nerve shattering game, both teams going for it and in the end enjoyed it,I’m just laughing at the narrative that Beaton had a good game.flow of the game? this one then leads to rangers penalty, we weren’t in possession but now had to turn back pic.twitter.com/wnfxwhDdCW

It really was a game full of incidents and patterns of assistance but even with the help of the referee and match officials, Rangers could still not beat Celtic in a game that mattered.
