Watch the three penalty decisions similar to Fabio Silva’s against Celtic that didn’t go against Rangers this season

VAR is certainly the word of the week considering what went on at Ibrox between Celtic and Rangers on Sunday.

John Beaton had a nightmare that may not even be his fault after the alleged VAR footage that came to light to show the whistler the Fabio Silva dive missed a key component of the whole incident.

Alistair Johnston clearly got the ball before the Portuguese fell over his leg but it seems that part wasn’t shown to Beaton who then overturned his decision.

Anyway, the main purpose of this post is to once again highlight the pattern of assistance that has been favouring Rangers for the past number of years.

Rangers’ pattern of assistance continues

The debate over Silva’s penalty will carry on but why is it that when other teams get a challenge of the same type in the same position they don’t get the same award as Rangers?

Have a look at these videos below:

It really is strange that the Ibrox club are refereed to a different standard than the rest of the Scottish Premier League and somehow that standard always seems to benefit them.

I mean how many handballs did it take to be ignored before Conor Goldson was actually punished by penalty before Sunday? Three? Four?

How many games was it before the Ibrox club were issued a penalty against them or a red card? And when that actually happened, what was the ‘punishment’ issued to Willie Collum?

The SFA really have got a lot to answer for and it’s time Celtic took them task like they used to when Fergus McCann was in charge of the club.

But it won’t happen. We will issue a strongly worded statement, time will pass and nothing will come of it. Or we will deal with it ‘quietly’. But it’s getting ridiculous now.

And it’s not just Celtic that need to stand up, other clubs in the league need to as well.
