“It’s a FF myth that most fans want it binned”, “It’s not about Catholics” – Blue on Blue as Everyone Anyone myth blown apart

We all knew this to be true anyway. The Billy Boys is lauded by the club and their fans regardless what they claim in public.

If you speak to any *Rangers fan on social media about that song, they will forever claim that it is hardly sung, if ever, at the ground these days.

Some are just in plain denial that it is about Catholics regardless of the infamous line in the song about knees and blood.

It really is delusion on a monumental scale.

Sunday was proof it. No sooner had the Ramsey goal hit the back of the net, then we were treated to the full rendition of the song that UEFA shut down their stands for.

But our Governing Body? Not a peep. Not a single quote or condemnation for sectarian hatred flowing through our TV screens.

Why? Because it has been normalised in our wee country. To the point that even the *Rangers fans are in denial about the origins of the song.

Even on Follow Follow they bicker about the song and confirm that the majority of the fans enjoy singing the song in this depressing thread:

NeilFifeLoyal: “Thought this would have got brought up [The Billy Boys] it was more than half most id say. Made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. Why the laughing face? What have I said that’s funny?”

Chronic 2001: “I’m glad the fans singing a song that could potentially land the club a huge fine and has led to partial stadium closures and European away fan bans made the hairs on the back of your neck stand up mate.

NeilFifeLoyal: “Singing said song domestically nothing will happen but you already know this. In Europe well that’s a different story.

I take it you where at the game yesterday? I was and it was most if not the whole stadium singing tbb.

It’s a FF myth that most fans want it binned. I’m more concerned about the halfwits throwing bottles now that could lead the stand closures.”

Chronic 2001: “I was at the game yesterday aye, and when that started getting sung I was wondering what all the catholic players and staff members we employ must have been thinking. What are your thoughts on that?”

Blues and Royals: “Strictly speaking the song is about Irish Republicans, and not Catholics.”

So there you have it. It’s ok. It’s not about Catholics. Even though their stadium was shut down for anti Catholic, racist singing.

What chance do you have?
