Celtic fans send a clear message to the board after latest announcement

The Celtic fans have sent a clear message to the Celtic board after the club released new merchandise celebrating the Parkhead side’s Irish origins.

In a statement released this morning Celtic said the new merchandise ‘follows the phenomenal response to last year’s 135th anniversary Origins Kit‘ and to ‘ensure that our Celtic connections are celebrated worldwide.‘ (Celtic FC)

In other words, it’s halfway through the season, the season book money is not due yet so we are going to rinse the supporters for more cash until we drop the bill through in the summer.

And you have to say the price of the merchandise is steep. £45 for a polo shirt with the full tracksuit costing over £100, this Celtic board have a brass neck asking the fans to cough up more dough after watching them squirrel away over £70m in the bank whilst the team struggles on the park.

The Celtic fans are not daft. They can see a cynical marketing ploy from a mile off and whilst there are fans who will purchase this merchandise without question (as is their right) there are others who are simply not getting on board with this.

In a brilliant reference to the club failing in the January window, these fans replied:

In what is now remarkably the FIFTH kit release of this season, the club seem determined to squeeze very available penny from the supporters whilst failing to invest any of it properly on the pitch.

The brass neck of this Celtic board has been recognised by the fans and they don’t like it one bit.
