“Abject failure” – Senior Celtic figure called out for shambolic January transfer window

Celtic Park

A transfer deadine day that, if the Celtic fans are really truthful with themselves, we didn’t reall expect much from it.

And it seems that has been proven correct. Recent speculation surrounding the club and new signings has been par for the course over the last two days and after the disappointment of losing out on Sydney van Hooijdonk, the fans will have to make to with Adam Idah.

Now I’m not knocking the boy. But signing Norwich City’s third choice striker on loan does not scream to me that that is the quality Brendan Rodgers has bee crying out for.

So who is to blame for this shambles of a window. The finger has been pointed squarely at Mark Lawwell by A Celtic State of Mind’s, John ‘Yogi’ Hughes, and there is not one Celtic fan that will disagree with him.

Hughes said (A Celtic State of Mind), “We cannot sack the board. We cannot force any change at board level.

“I think the best we can do is try to put pressure on Peter to move his boy along and make sure Dermot Desmond and maybe Ross Desmond puts pressure on Peter to move his boy along.

“This is now his fourth window, his fourth window of abject failure.

“So, Hammond I think got about four. Congerton got about four. These guys have a shelf life especially the ones we bring in because they are charlatans, basically.

“Mark Lawwell, and I’ve said multiple times, he’s not qualified for job, it’s not the job he was doing, he’s just not qualified for it.”

Cries of nepotism had been levied at the Celtic board ever since the return of Peter Lawwell saw him appoint his son as the Head of Recruitment.

No other club in Europe would allow such a thing to happen and the fact the we have allowed our club to regress in such a short space of time is criminal.

The board will never be removed. I ca make my piece with that but someone must be held accountable for the recruitment at Celtic and Mark Lawwell must carry the can.

  1. I like the honesty you get on this site.
Most of the stuff I have came across so far is a fair and honest assessment of where we are as a club right now. We have a decent manager who does not seem to have a proper recruitment team behind him. There are good players too but the manager seems keen to add a few more.

Thats not going to happen now which is a reflection of the recruitment team. So, the big question is, will we win the league this season. Failure to do that doesn’t bear thinking about.

The hard work starts now at Pittodrie. Good luck to Brendan and the Bhoys.
