Phil Mac Giolla Bhain shares just how desperate Liel Abada was to leave Celtic and sell on fee

Former Celtic winger, Liel Abada

Liel Abada looks set to leave Celtic in the near future as the winger has personal problems that are forcing him to leave the club.

Born Celtic told yesterday how Abada had been subject to disgraceful abuse from his homeland and now, it looks like he is set to seal a £11m deal to join MLS side Charlotte FC.

However, with the deal looking likely to be concluded in the coming days, Phil Mac Giolla Bhain has shared the financial loss that Liel Abada was willing to take to force a move from Celtic.

In his latest blog, Phil said, “The lad’s willingness to give up almost £2m in loyalty and appearance bonuses indicates how keen he was to leave.

“My information is that his side of the deal are also picking up the agent fees etc…”

“Finally Celtic also has a substantial sell-on fee from the profit of any future sale.”

Liel Abada will be wished well by Celtic supporters

I will get onto this later but there is no doubt that the Israeli winger will be wished well by the vast majority of the Celtic fans.

Abada contributed to Celtic’s success over the last two seasons with 29 goals and 22 assists as he helped Ange Postecoglou pick up five trophies including a world-record eighth domestic treble. [Transfermarkt]

The 22-year-old has not looked himself recently and declared himself as not being in the correct frame of mind to play for Celtic recently.

The best thing for the youngster, and for Celtic, is to move on and cut ties. That way the club makes a healthy transfer profit and Abada get to move on with his football career without the fear of being abused by the nutcase fraternity from his homeland.

Good luck to the lad when the move goes through and we will certainly be keeping a close eye on how his career develops from now on.
