”Sober up”, “Working to an agenda” – Celtic fans challenge Tom English’s latest Brendan Rodgers comments

Celtic boss, Brendan Rodgers.

Celtic fans have called out BBC journalist, Tom English, after his latest comments about the club and Brendan Rodgers.

The latest Celtic VAR furore had ignited social media this week and English had predicted that Rodgers may face an SFA charge after he called out John Beaton in his post match interviews.

English said on X, “Three incorrect decisions at Tynecastle, in my view, but Brendan Rodgers’ ‘incompetence’ chat is an open and shut breach of SFA rules.

“Will be interesting to see what happens next, if anything.”

But it wasn’t really that comment that annoyed the Celtic supporters. It was what happened next that got them wound up.

Bizarrely, a Rangers fan sent this to Tom:

To which English replied, “Yes, the irony is clear.”

Is it? Is it really clear? How? Joe Hart took a full boot to the face with clear contact whereas Cochrane’s contact (if there was any), was minimal.

Tom has had an absolute nightmare here and the Celtic fans let him know all about it:

I wish journalists would get their facts right or at least get the context correct before they decide to take a pop at Celtic.
