Celtic fans are over the moon after hearing the latest VAR news from the club today

Celtic Park

As the furore of John Beaton and Don Robertson continues today, Celtic have made an announcement on the matter that has delighted the supporters.

The 2-0 defeat to Hearts once again brings VAR to the fore and once again it is Celtic that are suffering from some really contentious decisions.

The decision to send off Hyunjun Yang and award a penalty for a Tomoki Iwata handball has been the subject of much debate over the past 24 hours.

The decisions of the match officials has clearly incensed Celtic and as such, they have released a statement regarding the matter.

Celtic appeal Hyunjun Yang red card

In a simple statement from the Celtic website, the club states, “Celtic Football Club can confirm that it will be appealing the red card issued to Hyunjun Yang during Sunday’s match against Hearts at Tynecastle.

We have also written to the SFA to raise our serious concerns regarding the use of VAR and the decisions made within the match.

As we have said before, for some time Celtic has sought to work with the footballing authorities with the aim of improving standards associated with refereeing and the use of VAR in Scotland, something which is clearly in the wider interests of everyone within the game.”

It’s about time the club stood firm with the SFA as for too long have they sat back and watched whilst clubs like Rangers benefit from serious patterns of assistance and said nothing.

But that has changed now and the Celtic fans are absolutely delighted.

The message is clear for Celtic from the fans

The Hoops support gathered in unison to congratulate the club for standing up to the SFA and many wish they had done it sooner.

And although the fans would have hoped for the club to take action well before now, it’s better late than never as the supporters laid the club for this latest move.
