‘He’s chaos as a footballer’ – Ange Postecoglou signing told he’s ‘like a man down’ whenever he plays for Celtic

Celtic’s form recently has been a real cause for concern for the fans.

Kyogo Furuhashi doesn’t look like the player of old, Matt O’Riley’s form has dropped off a cliff and the wingers simply don’t have it in them to penetrate even some of the worst defences in the league.

Even those we have in reserve coming off the bench don’t have the ability to change a game. Well, at least not in a good way.

There is one player that has come in for some severe criticism lately and here, Paul John Dykes explains why Alexandro Bernabei shouldn’t, in my view, pull on a Celtic jersey again.

Dykes said [A Celtic State of Mind], “I think that when you bring on Bernabei for Taylor, 60 minutes in, it looks like it was a predetermined decision

“You know, we’re going to give you 60 minutes, Greg, to get you back up to speed, right?

“I get that because you’re trying to get him back to full fitness. Bernabei comes in and the guy’s just chaos.

“He’s chaos as a footballer. You never know what he’s going to do. And he’s got no discipline whatsoever in terms of his positional play. his passing and his ball retention is really poor.

“And obviously he’s not strong enough because the goal epitomised the fact that he’s not strong enough.

“And he comes and our level drops dramatically. Not just the quality of the player, but I think the way that Taylor was playing at that point was, he was really playing the inverted role.

“A lot of the possession’s in in the midfield area and that obviously helps that entire area of the park. He comes off and Bernabei doesn’t give you the same presence in the midfield. So you’re a man down.”

The Argentine has barely featured in the two seasons he has been at Celtic. 28 appearances since he joined in 2022 tell you that neither Ange Postecoglou nor Brendan Rodgers rate him.

He does give his all but he is simply not good enough to play for Celtic. His mistake against Aberdeen has now been compounded by his poor defending against Killie and, for me, he needs to be sold this summer.
