Did Ange drop a hint that Jota may be fit for tonight?

As Celtic are set to face RB Leipzig tonight in the Champions League, Ange Postecoglou gave an update on the status of Jota.

Initially it looked like we should be panicking as the Portuguese winger missed training yesterday, but Ange Postecoglou in his pre-match interview tried to settle the nerves of the Celtic fans with this.

Speaking in his pre match press conference, Ange said, “Turnbull and Jenz both missed out through illness but they both look like they’ll be okay.

“Jota, we’ll just wait and see. He’s still a bit sore from the weekend so we’ll make a decision tomorrow.

“It’s a quick turnaround in games so usually second day we’ve got a couple missing anyway but obviously with the game tomorrow, we’ve got to make a decision.”

What is crucial here is the point Ange made about players usually missing the second day of training due to the quick turnaround in games so maybe, just maybe, Jota is being wrapped in cotton wool to get him ready for tonight? Or is that just wishful thinking?

Of course, we will hope that Jota is fit and able to play, but even if he isn’t, we still have Abada, Forrest and Maeda available.

Obviously, Jota is the main man, but by his listening to what Ange Postecoglou said, he is willing to give the Portuguese winner every chance to make tonight’s vital Champions League game in order to keep our qualification chances for the last 16 alive.
