It’s not really a surprise this though is it?
The lack of scrutiny over the Ibrox clubs first team affairs or lack of transfer business by the Scottish press is nothing short of shambolic.
Take this for example. Then Celtic signed James McCarthy on a four year deal the press were all over it. Why offer a 31 year old a four year deal that has hardly played a game for his previous club?
Then you have the ‘capture’ of Aaron Ramsey who had played even less games than McCarthy and could play a part in Casualty but was heralded as Rangers ‘saviour’.
And then the contract extensions of McGregor (after his embarrassing Scottish Cup farewell), Arfield and Davis who are all the wrong side of 30. All toasted as great pieces of business.
Garbage. And it was highlighted by Phil Mac Ghiolla Bháin’s latest blog. In it he critiqued Rangers latest contract dealings in a manner no member of the Scottish press would ever do:
And it absolutely will.
Hell, they were all creaming themselves over Edouard and Christie and even Ajer going into the last year of their contracts. And guess what?
Celtic still got incredible money for them.
