Celtic transfer update from Derek Rae

Yesterday a story broke that Celtic are in the hunt for Schalke defender Malick Thiaw.

In a move that seemed like a reaction to Chris Jullien heading in the opposite direction, the link to the defender seemed like a lazy one.

And it was according to Bundesliga expert, Derek Rae.

When asked about the speculation regarding Thiaws possible move to Paradise, Rae said:

I’ll answer it this way. As it stands, nothing on this from the German end, only some Scottish media speculation. The links in Germany have all been with Italian clubs. Looking at probably around 8 million Euro for a very promising young defender who S04 will sell. https://t.co/Nn3P1bJYUX

So the defender looks to be on his way out, just not to Celtic as per the Scottish journalists reports.

With Chris Julliens move to Schalke now fallen through due to the club not wanting to take a ‘financial risk’, Celtic now have to either decide to keep the Frenchman on or find him another club and a replacement in time for the new season starting in four weeks time.
