Tom English’ scathing fan attack and offers solution to Glasgow Derby crowd violence that Celtic fans will agree with

Main stand and Jock Stein Stand, Celtic Park

The *Rangers statement after yesterdays game was not really all that surprising now was it?

Their support was dragged through the mud in the last two Glasgow Derby’s where sectarian singing was thrown about more than those glass bottles so the score had to be evened up right?

Now, I suppose we just have to wait for the Police investigation to be concluded but I’ll leave my two bobs worth here.

Why would the family section of Parkhead go to a game tooled up with glass bottles to lob at the away support? Draw your own conclusions to that.

But Tom English was less than impressed with what he saw in the stands yesterday afternoon and offered his solution, that I think will be backed up with Celtic supporters, on how to stamp out this nonsense at every Glasgow Derby.

Speaking on Sportsound, English said, “I’ve been I’ve said it before, and I know most people disagree with me, but I’d rather see Old F*rm games with just home fans.

Okay, this is what you get. You get sectarianism shouted, you get all sorts of stuff, they wind each other up. That just ratchets up the sectarianism, the bigotry.

You know, you have this nonsense going on here [bottle throwing]. I people say, you know, it’s not the same when you don’t have away fans.

Okay, what are we missing out on? Some of this stuff? A bit of extra noise. I can I can live without it. I know it’s part and parcel of this fixture.

But, you know, the atmosphere here of the Celtic 3-0, but there was no way fans and it was terrific.

It was an absolutely terrific atmosphere. The atmosphere, that noise, in no shape or form was it diminished with the fact that there was no away fans.

Maybe I’m just not embroiled in the whole Old Firm thing.”

This is something the majority of Celtic fans have been crying out for ever since the 3-0 game.

The atmosphere that night was incredible. No sectarianism. Just 60,000 fans having a party.

Is this the way forward from now on?
