Chris Sutton is well known for his wind up skills when it comes to Rangers. So much so that they have banned him from their club because they ‘can’t guarantee his safety’. Whatever the hell that is supposed to mean.
But let’s be honest, he lives rent free in their heads. Totally consumes them and he take’s all sorts of abhorrent abuse for it.
Which is why I always find it strange when he praises them or wished them well. They just don’t deserve an ounce of his time.
But on BBC 606, Sutton was asked if he will be cheering for them on Thursday in their Europa League semi final against RB Leipzig.
Sutton surprised me when he said, “Absolutely.
“Big for Scottish football. You know, if they can they can get through to the Europa final.
“I mean that would be some achievement.
“Great player was van Bronckhorst, you must have played against him a few times.
“Brilliant player. He’s gone into Rangers he’s done very, very well.”
In Europe he’s done well, but domestically he has s**t the bed.
Now I get why he’s said what he’s said. He needs to be professional in his work, unlike those over in Govan but I’d be willing to bet that secretly, his thoughts privately will be much different.
