“Absolutely disgraceful” – Chris Sutton slams Ibrox supporters shameful conduct

Celtic Park

You do sometimes wonder the mentality of some people. Well, let’s be specific here. The mentality of the Ibrox support.

Not only did they indulge in the sectarian dirge that we all knew they would, the glass bottle incident is something I simply cannot get my head around.

Whether is was a broken bottle before it was thrown or not, the intent was clear.

It was brought to the stadium to target a Celtic player in any way possible.

The fact it was broken just further compounds their stupidity as it could have even hurt their own players.

And Chris Sutton was is no mood to make excuses. Not that he ever would.

Speaking in his column, Sutton said, “It is absolutely disgraceful that someone would consider walking into a stadium with a bottle in their possession and then throw it into a park.

It left me gobsmacked. I’m a big supporter of Scottish football and I stand up for the game whenever I can, but there’s nothing you say to defend that.

They just shamed Scottish football with that stunt and made us look like a footballing backwater. Which is a shame as the game itself was a spectacle to be proud of.

But nothing embarrasses that support.

Singing. Racist posts on twitter. Broken bottles and missiles.

Expected but yet not surprising.
