BBC pundit lays harsh truth to Ibrox fantasists

If you ever need any validation as to how close Rangers are to us in terms of squad depth and quality, listening to BBC Sportsound will certainly give you that.

Especially when they are being honest.

The establishment broadcaster is usually very favourable towards the establishment club and, in some ways, they do feed the delusion that surrounds the Ibrox club.

But this time, after their cup final defeat to Celtic, the show had a stark warning for the Govan side when Rory Loy laid out some hard facts that the fans of the club may well find hard to take.

Speaking on BBC Sportsound, Loy said,“I don’t see Rangers, and I understand facts may contradict me slightly here in terms of the form of Rangers since Michael Beale has come in, I don’t know if Rangers at the moment could go 60 games and lose only one of the like Ange Postecoglou has done.

And ultimately, that’s the standard that has been set to win the league title.

You need to go through a 38 game season losing only maybe one game, which is incredibly difficult to do.

I think Michael Beale’s got them to a stage that in any one off game against Celtic, they are capable of winning. Appreciate they didn’t yesterday. They got a draw at Ibrox where they performed pretty well.

And I think that in the next two Old F*rm games, I believe that both will be tight again.

And I made that point when Michael Beale first came in, once he gets through January into February, you will start to see positive impacts in places.

And in any one off game they are very difficult to call.

In terms of mounting a title challenge, Celtic’s consistency is through the roof.

It’s as good a Celtic squad, I’m only thirty-three don’t get me wrong, but it’s a good a Celtic squad as I’ve seen them in my lifetime.”

As good a Celtic squad as he has seen in his lifetime. Let me tell you, I’m 46 and seen Rodgers, Strachan and O’Neill’s squads and this one, by a country mile, outstrips them all.

It’s going to be a long cold barren few years for Beale’s boys.
