The £10m bid that knocks Celtic out the ‘race’ for EPL star

Janefield Street

I’m not so sure there even was a ‘race’ for his signature. At least not on our part.

The Antoine Semenyo rumours were ones that were rife in the summer as Celtic were being heavily tipped to land the forward.

The Bristol City striker is out of contact this summer and was widely expected to move to Celtic but after this latest development, we should (if we ever were) say thanks, but no thanks.

£10m for a guy that is out of contract in June? Mental.

But not as mental as his scoring record. It’s so bad that it makes you realise that with the amount of money that is swimming around in England, it seems that they will spend it on any old nonsense.

In 163 career appearances, Semenyo has hit the back of the net 26 times. [Transfermarkt]

26. In the third AND fourth tier of English football and they are rejecting £10m.

Forget the price, that goal scoring record alone wouldn’t do far ANY club in the SPFL never mind Celtic so now, I hope, that puts to rest any notion that this ‘striker’ would ever be seriously considered as an option for our great club.
