Jim Spence’s latest Sevco tweet nearly broke Twitter!

There are certain people on Twitter I absolutely love to read in regards to telling it straight.

Obviously Chris Sutton is a must. No nonsense, but fair and loves to wind up the Sevco nuts. But there are also a few outside the Celtic circles that REALLY get under their skin.

Michael Stewart for one. No matter what he tweets, the hoards across the water descend on it like a pack of wild dogs.

Then there is Jim Spence. The man allegedly dropped by the BBC for denying that Rangers are the same club, continually get’s under their skins with his online truths.

And last nights nearly sent them all over the edge.

Six words. Full scale twitter riot. For merely pointing out the obvious.

Rangers last three games where they went behind they have managed to secure a red card and two penalties. The St Mirren penalty, admittedly, was the correct decision, but when struggling against Motherwell, the officials seemed to ‘miss’ a blatant offside for their opening goal.

However, barely a week goes by were there is no dubious decision in favour of the boys in blue and when he pointed this out on twitter, Spence’s notifications when through the roof:

Watch video as brilliant Broony trolls Morelos

You have to love Broony. Not for being the Celtic legend that he is. But for taking every and ANY opportunity to take a dig at *Rangers regardless the club he plays for.

Last night, the former Celtic captain struck Aberdeen’s second goal at Ibrox to put the Don’s 2-0 up and in typical Broony style, he couldn’t resist having a dig at Alfredo Morelos.

As soon as Broony’s bullet header struck the back of the net, what he did next was simply brilliant!

Brown has had a long standing feud with the Rangers striker and it was brilliant to see him take this opportunity to rub more salt into the Colombian’s wounds.

From his elbow in the Glasgow Derby below, the bad blood between the two of them seems to be still running strong, despite the change in jersey.

The Celtic fans loved it and took to the official Rangers twitter account to show their pleasure at the former Celtic skippers goal:

Listen to BBC presenters stunning reaction to another honest mistake!

More honest mistakes? Or just plain cheating?

Until it is called out then we will never know.

Of course, no one will ever dare say publicly that the referee’s are corrupt due to the legal ramifications of such an accusation, but at what point do we stop, and have a serious look at the officials in our game?

Are they really that incompetent? Surely no one can be THAT incompetent? Either way, our game will never be taken seriously by any major broadcaster until decisions like last night are either trained out of the refs, or called out.

Last night is as close as you could possibly get when BBC Sportsound’s Richard Gordon reacted to the footage he saw of the penalty decision, “As I was running through one screen, I noticed there was another incident coming through from the game from Ibrox. I thought, why are they showing that? They showed that it’s a nothing incident I’ve just realised that’s the penalty! That is unbelievable!!

“I’ve been doing this long enough. I’m quite willing to be open and honest about anything. I certainly wouldn’t be going crazy. There’s just no way that is a penalty. There’s nothing there and what John Beaton has seen, goodness only knows.”

It really was a brilliant reaction and even former Rangers player Richard Foster, was left dumbstruck.

I’m sure there will be a full and thorough investigation by the SFA to find out exactly why that decision was taken but it will be interesting to see what game Beaton is assigned to next………..

“I think Yokohama could be persuaded to make it happen” -Japan based Celtic podcaster gives brilliant Maeda transfer fee update

With the transfer gossip really hotting up and we are not even into November yet, the biggest rumour doing the rounds so far is the Daizen Maeda story.

Maeda was being touted for a move to Celtic Park last week when reports broke that Celtic had sent a delegate to Japan to try and thrash out a deal for the player.

Ever since then the speculation still hasn’t gone away and today, a Japan based Celtic podcaster revealed the background of the player and the transfer fee that his current club, Yokohama F Marinos, would accept to allow the deal to happen.

Speaking on the excellent Celtic Down Under podcast, host Jarrod was speaking about the link to Maeda and asked Liam, who is based in Japan, his thoughts on the deal.

Liam spoke back in July about Maeda to Celtic and it was very interesting what he had to say, “Absolutely. For one I’ve already seen Maeda wear the green and white hoops, albeit it was for Matsumoto Yamaga, my local team, who that season wore green and white hoops.

He played for Yamaga for about two seasons. And he was a standout. He was the star of the season that they got promoted. And he basically held them up for as much as he could.

Even though they got relegated the next season he did his best to kind of try and steady the ship. He just really run the show.

And he left towards the end of the season to go on loan to a team in Portugal. I think it was Maritimo.

If I remember correctly, and it was telling that Yamaga just completely fell apart as soon as he left and they got relegated. Since he’s come back to Japan to Yokohama, he has developed more as a player.

If I were to liken him to a Celtic player that we might all be familiar with, Scott McDonald probably springs to mind.

Not the biggest guy but stocky. Low centre of gravity. Loves to run with the ball. Powerful, despite his physique determined and will run all day.

He has that same graft, that same work ethic that Kyogo has. Perhaps what he doesn’t have in terms of skill compared to Kyogo, I think, he makes up for in greater physicality.

Plus, he’s from Osaka, which is basically the Glasgow of Japan so he’s got to be mental.

And when asked by Jarrod what price would tempt Yokohama to sell Maeda, Liam gave a very interesting figure, “Three to three and a half million probably.

Because in Japan they know he’s not quite as good as Kyogo. He doesn’t have as many international caps as Kyogo, but he is a highly regarded player.

And like I said in Japan, they always do their best not to stand in the way of guys who have the chance to move to Europe.

So yeah, I think Yokohama could be persuaded to make it happen.”

A brilliant insight to the type of player Celtic could potentially get but also a very reasonable price for a Japanese international. The January window will be very interesting.

“Worst ref in the league” – Celtic fans react to ex FIFA ref’s incredible take on Nick Walsh

These really are strange days. From blatant violent conduct being denied to questions being asked about the validity of the Celtic penalty, the fall out from the Hoops match against St Johnstone is still rumbling on.

As Nick Walsh came under fire from the east of Glasgow for his refereeing performance on Saturday, it seems the referee’s are circling the wagons to protect one of their members.

Ex FIFA referee, Keith Hackett, has made an incredible assertion about Walsh’s handling of the Chris Kane incident and made an unbelievable claim about Carter Vickers yellow card, “I think this referee is in top form, I like his style, I like his motivation.

“He’s in quickly, he’s blown and he’s handled it very well. I think he’s right, a double yellow. It’s a bit of a mass confrontation. Well done to him.

“I keep saying it, and I know referees in Scotland get criticised, but I think he’s handled that absolutely to the textbook.

“He’s close at hand. I don’t think there’s been a kick out of malice. There’s a ball around.

“I’m supporting the double yellow, I’m supporting a good bit of refereeing with common sense.”

The Celtic fans were not happy and let the publication know in no uncertain terms what they thought of the referee and his performance:

I don’t have an issue with referee’s sticking up for each other. I really don’t but don’t try to insult people’s intelligence by claiming the referee was on top form when the evidence is clear he lost it on Saturday.

Another class Celtic UEFA tweet has Hoops fans buzzing

It seems a week cannot go by without UEFA sending out their weekly Celtic appreciation tweet

As the Hoops start to make their mark on the tournament, the buzz around the club really got going when Ange Postecoglou’s side burst onto the scene when after just twenty minutes, the Hoops blew Spanish giants away and were it not for some defensive lapses, Celtic should have recorded a famous win on Spanish soil.

Celtic eventually went on to lose the game but the memory of the football they played in that game, and to a certain extent, the Bayer Leverkusen game, the Parkhead club have set the tournament alight.

And what has set the Celtic fire under UEFA’s belly? That Jota pass for the Kyogo goal.

It took the internet by storm and now Europe’s governing body has asked the Hoops fans to choose their favourite goal between Kyogo and former Celtic midfielder Olivier Ntcham’s 95th minute winner against Lazio in Rome almost two years ago:

And it has caused a stir amongst the Paradise fans.

Many believe that Jota’s is the best because of the overall execution by him and Kyogo, but many are of the opinion that for significance alone, Ntcham’s is the most important.

It’s all about opinions and you can give yours here in our poll but these Celtic fans were in no doubt about what their favourite was:

Wim Jansen tributes flood in as football fans show legend some love

As the terrible news broke on Celtic twitter yesterday of Hoops legend Wim Jansen’s dementia diagnosis, the Celtic family, as always, pulled together in tribute to the man that stopped their greatest rivals from achieving the coveted ten titles in a row.

Jansen’s achievement at that time was monumental.

Not only because of what he achieved on the park, but also in the way he pulled the club together after a shaky start to the season to go on to not only win the league, but secure a cup double.

And there was also the small matter of signing the legend that is Henrik Larsson.

However, what was very interesting was the tributes pouring in from other footballing nations.

From afar as Japan, where Jansen was involved with Sanfrecce Hiroshima and Urawa Red Diamonds to Holland where he bossed Feyenoord.

There was also a nice touch from some Rangers fans.

“You’re the one who directed in Hiroshima …”

“This is also not in the Dutch football news.”

“Beautifully written, respect for Celtic FC”

Loved by the Celtic fans, respected the world over. We wish Wim Jansen all the very best.

Listen to reaction as Davie Provan makes Rangers finances claim and incredible £20m KT transfer claim

Davie Provan is a bloggers dream. Or nightmare? Whichever it is, you can always rely on him for at least a great negative story or a fanciful positive Sevco story right out of the Never Ending Story category.

This time, Provan made THREE incredible claims on The Go Radio Football Show that just cannot be let go.

Discussing transfers with Paul Cooney and former Rangers defender Craig Moore, Provan made this incredible triple claim that even to the most hardened *Rangers fan, is unbelievable. And I’m not talking about the finances part, “I think Rangers finances are out there in the public and Rangers need to sell some players to get some money in.

And it wouldn’t surprise me if Nathan Patterson is away in the window.

I think if the money’s right, it would have to be a hell of an offer. They’ve [Everton] got the money. I think if you’re looking at Nathan Patterson, I think you’re looking at 20 million pounds. I really do.

I think Kieran Tierney was more experienced and proved himself in the Champions League etc and Celtic got £25m and I think if you look at the potential of Nathan Patterson, I think you’re starting off at £20 million for that boy.

It was so good, listen to Craig Moore’s reaction below 👇

Yeah. I know. £20m for a guy that barely has double digit appearances for Rangers this season. And the comparison to Kieran Tierney who has starred in Champions Leagues and won Trebles at Celtic?

There is none. Unbelievable.

Brendan Rodgers in line for sensational swoop as bookies slash job odds

The results at the weekend proved one thing.

Football is a fickle business.

Now, don’t get me wrong. I absolutely get this is a results driven business.

Heaven knows Celtic fans know this more than most as that saying keeps getting rammed down our throats every time Ange Postecoglou’s team drop points, but you would think that only weeks after signing a contract extension would pretty much guarantee you job security.

Not if you’re Manchester United boss Ole Gunner Solskjaer. And especially not after getting skelped 5-0 at home from your bitter rivals.

And now that the dust settles on that result, it has emerged that former Celtic boss, Brendan Rodgers, has risen as one of the front runners for the United job.

According to The Sun, ‘A leading agent has been instructed to contact some of the biggest names in the game, with Ajax boss Erik Ten Hag and Leicester’s Brendan Rodgers – a former Liverpool boss – also on the shortlist.

And this has been reflected in the bookies odds as Rodgers moves into second favourite, just behind Antonio Conte and ahead of Zinedine Zidane.

If Rodgers was appointed as manager it would be a sensational return to the top of football after his infamous Liverpool title crash were Steven Gerrard’s mistake cost the Northern Irishman the biggest prize in English football.

Rodgers will fancy this. And you can bet he will be saying, ‘Manchester United is the club I supported as a boy’ before Leicester City know what’s hit them!

Celtic target told by boss to put himself in shop window

Link

As Celtic are seemingly stepping up their efforts to strengthen the team in the January window, one of their targets, Lee Buchanan has effectively been told by his boss to play well and earn his big move.

Derby County manager, Wayne Rooney, was addressing the English media after the recent speculation linking his young left back to the Hoops and he has basically laid down the gauntlet to his players, “I’m enjoying this. “I wanted to be a manager and this is a challenge — for me, for the coaches, the staff.

“As I’ve said to them [the players], there’s no point walking with your head down.

Get on with it, do your work and people will respect it, no matter what the outcome for this football club is.

“And I’ve said to the players, this is an opportunity to show yourself. If you can come out of this with credit, you’ll be attractive to other owners and managers.”

Should Celtic sign Jota now or wait till end of the season? Take the poll HERE!

As Buchan enters into he final year of his contract and The Rams in increasing financial difficulties, Celtic could land the player in January relatively cheaply as the English club would not want to risk losing him for free at the end of the current season.

Buchanan is one of a number of players the Hoops have been linked to in the last seven days and as we approach the opening of the January window, the speculation will reach fever pitch levels as Ange Postecoglou looks to strengthen his squad for the title run in.
