Hugh Keevins’ embarrassing article comparing Rangers boss Philippe Clement to Ange Postecoglou at Celtic comes back to haunt him

Hugh Keevins is a journalist most Celtic fans simply do not have time for.

Many see him as a divisive figure in the Scottish media who cannot wait to take a pop at Celtic whenever the opportunity presents itself.

Which is a shame because, and I’ll be honest here, when I’ve listened to Hugh Keevins on The Celtic Exchange and A Celtic State of Mind he comes across as a very likeable guy with a passion for our club.

The problem with Hugh is that he hams up a persona on the radio or in his column to dry and drum up clicks and views when if he just presented himself as he does in Celtic podcasts he would be thought of more seriously.

So when an article he had written comparing Rangers boss Philippe Clement to former Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou last year resurfaced this week, the Hoops supporters just could let it slide.

Hugh Keevins’ comparison of Ange and Clement is laughable

Keevins said in the Daily Record in November 2023, “You could hardly call four games a body of work but Philippe Clement, based on the evidence gathered so far, could be Rangers’ Ange Postecoglou.

Ange took six games to work out Scottish football when he arrived from Japan to manage Celtic – then he dominated our game until he left for Spurs.

Clement has yet to lose a match and has started to get a tune out of players who were only capable of one bum note after another under his predecessor Michael Beale.”

I mean, talk about jumping the shark before the guy had done anything of note. Clement won four games. That is it and he hadn’t done what Ange did in his first four games, face Celtic.

In fact, in Clement’s first game against Celtic, he failed. Rangers lost 2-1 but it wasn’t until the collapse against Motherwell that the Belgian was really tested.

And when that happened, Clement failed again as he threw away a lead at the top of the table losing the league and Scottish Cup to Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic.

The next bit is a belter, “I’ve always laughed at the xenophobic attitude of the fans in this country who look at a foreign player when he arrives here from somewhere more exotic and question his credentials with a sneering remark.

I’ll see those ‘sneering remarks’ and raise you Lubomir Moravcik, Hugh. Or have you just forgotten about the time you slaughtered him when he signed for Celtic without seeing him play football?

Celtic fans roast Hugh Keevins’ Clement vs Postecoglou tripe

And quick to point out Keevins’ failings the Celtic fans let the veteran journalist know exactly what he thought of them.

Let’s see what happens when…

Probably still should to be fair!

And there are many, many more comments just like that.

Poor Hugh.
