‘No wonder we get laughed at’, ‘Rewarding failure’ – Rangers fans slaughter Ibrox end-of-season award winner as Celtic fans say nothing

I love this time of year, I really do. Celtic are embroiled in a brilliant title race with Rangers and instead of focusing on that, the Ibrox club set about congratulating their players in their end-of-season awards.

With so much riding on the final five games of the season, Rangers are going for a potential treble and Celtic are looking to do a league and Scottish Cup double.

Both teams struggled to wins over St Mirren and Dundee at the weekend and after dropping points at Ross County and Dundee you would think that Rangers would be 100% focused on what’s coming up next.

Not them though. That would make too much sense. Instead, they bizarrely organised their Player of the Year Awards slap-bang in the middle of the top split six and, true to form, they made an @rse of it.

In true Banter Years style, the Ibrox club bestowed this honour on defender and part-time basketball player, Connor Goldson:

I’m guessing this award was dished out because Goldson surpassed 300 appearances for the Ibrox club but what exactly has he achieved.

A COVID title, a Scottish Cup at the fifth time of asking and a League Cup win that was aided and abetted by the Hampden match officials.

All the while, since he joined Rangers, Goldson has watched Celtic pick up a Quadruple Treble, a nine-in-a-row and he’s also earned his club the worst Champions League team in the history of the competition.

And whilst every Celtic fan will find this award hilarious, the Rangers fans are less than impressed.

I don’t really think there is much to add to those comments except this. Goldson is the Rangers vice-captain, quite how he was given this award when he was not long after slaughtering the youngsters at the club just sums up their tin-pot mentality to a tee.
